AT&T officially announced today that their existing users can keep unlimited data plans with newly released iPhone 5 and users won’t be forced to select new Shared Data Plans. In a press release today AT&T officials said that subscribers will continue to enjoy their old Data Plan on their any iPhone models.
If the usage of the data exceeded by their data usage limit then in such case the user would be throttled. With the release of iPhone 5 AT&T announced new Shared Data Plans which are expensive compared with old Unlimited Data Plans. AT&T also increased limit of Unlimited Data Plans to 5GB which was 3GB before.
According to AT&T’s press release:
We offer customers the flexibility to keep the iPhone data plans they already have or choose any of our individual or new Mobile Share plans. We’re proud that more customers choose AT&T for iPhone than any other U.S. carrier and look forward to making iPhone 5 the newest addition to our lineup.
This is good news for AT&T old subscribers but you still won’t be able to use Facetime over Cellular because this feature is only available for those subscribers who signed up under new Shared Data Plans.
