With the release of iOS 5.1 firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch one question came into everyone’s mind whether this firmware can be jailbreak or not. The answer to this question is, recently iPhone Dev Team has posted a report on their blog warning the jailbreakers to stay away from updating their iOS devices to iOS 5.1 firmware.
The original message from iPhone Dev Team is posted below:
Jailbreakers: Don’t Update To iOS 5.1 firmware:
In all likelihood we’ll see the GM “gold master” version of 5.1 this week. DO NOT UPDATE TO 5.1, because you may lose your jailbreak! The rest of this post details the subtleties with this rule, but if there’s only one message to take home, it’s the overall “do not update” message!
From the above message it is clear that for the time being there is no solution available to jailbreak tethered or untethered on iOS 5.1 firmware. It is also important to save your SHSH blobs as Apple will stop signing iOS 5.0.1 SHSH as soon as iOS 5.1 appears on Apple’s public servers. If you update your iOS firmware to iOS 5.1 firmware then you will lose you jailbreak so, you just have to be patience until some jailbreak solution came out from devs.
